About ValeFest

ValeFest aims to celebrate music and musicianship and develop community-led art and cultural events for all ages, bringing together the rural communities of the Vale of Belvoir and nearby market towns of Melton Mowbray and Grantham.

ValeFest intends to promote local musicians and singers and widen audiences for live music, arts and cultural events, promoting existing shows, encouraging pubs, village halls, churches and more unusual venues to feature music and related cultural events.

As well as becoming an artistic talent resource, ValeFest introduces major new events including festivals and Melton and Grantham-based concerts. It also offers young and amateur artists the opportunity to develop skills, work alongside professional musicians and perform in public.

VALE OF BELVOIR FESTIVAL OF LIVE MUSIC

3. Improve entertainment opportunities across the Vale of Belvoir for the people of the area &  beyond
4. Introduce visitors to the area to benefit tourism and the local economy
5. Provide opportunities for young and amateur artists to develop their skills and work alongside professionals

METHOD
1. Develop ValeFest as a means of sourcing, enabling and promoting local talent
2. Encompass and enhance events and activities currently offered in the area
3. Encourage pubs, hotels & more unusual venues to put on music and arts related events to bring live music and cultural activity to wider audiences
4. Establish major new events including music and arts workshops, performances, festivals and Melton & Grantham based concerts

FUNDING
ValeFest will initially be largely dependent on grant funding. However, the committee is entrepreneurial and to ensure sustainability, by year 3 monies to run the project will come from grants, sponsorship, advertising and sales. By year 5 our aim is for ValeFest to seek grant funding for new and specialised activities only.
Although ValeFest is a not-for-profit creative enterprise now seeking CIC status, we hope in the future to have a physical base in the Vale of Belvoir, employ local people, up-skill volunteers, provide training opportunities in the creative industries, music bursaries and scholarships, and widen participation and opportunities still further.

LOCATION
The Vale of Belvoir straddles three county boundaries across Melton Borough in Leicestershire, South Kesteven in Lincolnshire and Rushcliffe in Nottinghamshire.
